Hi, I'm Kevin
New York Public Historian & Tour Guide
Thanks for looking at my author website. I have written and edited nine books that are all tied to New York State. I appreciate all of my readers so much! My favorite part about being a writer is getting to meet the people who like the subjects and read my books. This is why I LOVE having a tour company, because all of my tours are tied to my books. I might be unique in this regard: I lead walking tours, like many guides do. But I also have a boat partner and this allows me to give the famous Great Gatsby Boat Tour on Long Island. The most beautiful cemetery in the country, Woodlawn Cemetery, lets me give trolley tours.
My career has allowed me to profiled in The New Yorker, The New York Times, USA Today, National Geographic Traveler, the Los Angeles Times, and many others. I have been on CBS Sunday Morning, WCBS, BBC Radio, National Public Radio, the Travel Channel, French television, and many podcasts. I have given talks to groups as diverse as garden clubs and the U.S. Navy.
My motto is attributed to Jimmy Walker. “I’d rather be a lamppost in New York than mayor of Chicago.” If you love New York, you’ll like what I’m writing about.
