Algonquin Round Table New York by Jane Kratochvil

It seems like an alternate reality that I am in some way linked to Lucasfilm. Around 20 years ago, Lucasfilm reached out to me, to see if I would be a talking head in a mini-documentary about the Algonquin Round Table. Why? Now, I have been a huge fan of Star Wars since I saw it in theaters in 1977. What was this about, George Lucas? It turns out, it was tied into The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, a TV series for kids his company produced in the 1990s. Twenty years ago, a DVD series was coming out, and the company wanted to make mini-documentaries for the DVD series. I did not know that in one of the shows, a kid Indiana Jones met the Algonquin Round Table. This must have been in the timeline about 15 years before he went to looks for the Ark of the Covenant. I completely forgot I did this thing (I was never paid, or even sent a copy of it). Then it popped up on social media as a “brand new” documentary that is now digital and cleaned up. It is a little sad, because the late Marion Meade is also featured; we went to the Algonquin Hotel together to shoot this.

“We had close to twenty newspapers, there were eighty Broadway theaters…” that is uncredited me, to open this documentary; these are words I use on my walking tour.

If you like the video, pick up my book, which they used for the documentary.
